I get a ton of questions about wedding day timelines. It can seem like a huge thing to conquer.
If you’re feeling lost in planning out the specific flow to your wedding day, this is what planners are for!
Although I highly recommend using a planner, for weddings without one, your photographer can be your best resource to creating the perfect wedding day timeline.
If you’ve booked me as your photographer, you’ve already received a magazine jam packed with all sorts of wedding day insights. Included in there are a few detailed pages regarding timelines. What happens throughout each portion of the day as well how much time to allot for each chunk of your wedding.
Every wedding day has a unique flow, so if you still have questions, let’s work on your perfect timeline together!
Often the place where I find timelines fail is dinner service.
I don’t have much to say about timing after reception introductions happen. Caterers, DJs and venue staff often coordinate this portion of the day.
I’m not sure where things fall short, but dinner almost always takes long than expected. Maybe the caterer has higher expectations for their turn around times than reality, or maybe these times are suggested by the venue or DJ.
Start by communicating with your catering company to determine how long they need to complete dinner. Then plan out the rest of your reception events with your DJ’s advice!
