Business ownership + motherhood.
Friends, it’s hard. A lot harder than I thought it would be! When I was pregnant, I told myself it would be easy to keep up with the demands for my time…Babies just sleep all day, right? Wrong!
Over the past 6 months, more often than not, the only time I get any editing done, emails answered, or blog posts written, I’m either nursing or bouncing Jase around on my lap to keep him entertained while I slowly type with one hand. (He’s actually sleeping while I’m writing this time, yay!)
I never knew how much time I had on my hands until every minute of my day was suddenly scheduled by such a little person. When I do have time to myself, the couch calls my name but then at the end of the day I’m kicking myself for not being productive….So, I decided to start challenging myself to get past doing the bare minimum. Right now, I’m determined to rock managing motherhood, house work, and my business.
So first, I’ve started leading a Rising Tide Society group in Carlisle. This group has been an amazing blessing. It takes a few minutes a day to stay involved and keeping up conversation through emails, Instagram and Facebook. But the recharge that these creative souls are giving me has been so worth it!
And secondly, I’ve challenged myself to shoot for fun. Shoot just to inspire myself and get my creative juices flowing. That use to be a regular thing, but its been easy to only break out my camera when its ‘work’ and I don’t want that! Film photographers always catch my eye. I think the dreamy greens, grain, and softness of a film photo are beautiful. So I’ve finally learned a little bit about the film camera I purchased months ago and I’ve shot 3 rolls so far. It’s teaching me to slow down and capture images intentionally. Instead of a hundred or more photos after a session, I’ve only shot 36 frames. The anticipation of getting to see my images a few days later is so exciting! (Its completely nerve wracking, too!) I am loving what I’m learning about my art through film so far. I can’t wait to see where this continues to take me!
Here’s the first of a few film posts coming soon!
xoxo, Addie
